This latest entry from the Taste of Home Eds. crew focuses solely on fruits and vegetables. Rather than use the standard organizational system based on parts of a meal, this lavishly illustrated book dedicates chapters to one kind of produce, ranging from apples to tomatoes. Each chapter contains approximately 15-20 recipes for desserts, salads, entrees, and side dishes. The blurbs add a homey touch, making the book seem more like a community effort than the output of a giant publishing combine. While a nice idea-capitalizing on foods that are often relegated to a single chapter in other cookbooks-the recipes themselves are fairly typical. Many are basic classics that can be easily found elsewhere.
