Summary
The sequel to Gordon Korman's Swindle - the Man With A Plan is back!
When Griffin Bing's class goes to a floating zoo, they don't expect to see animals being treated so badly. They don't expect to find Elvis, Dog Whisperer Savannah's pet monkey who's been missing for weeks. And they really don't expect to have to hide the animals once they've rescued them! Hilarity ensues as Griffin's team once more pulls off a heist... trying to break the animals back into a (better) zoo!
Author Notes
Gordon Korman was born in Montreal, Canada on October 23, 1963. When his 7th-grade English teacher told the class they could have 45 minutes a day for four months to work on a story of their choice, Korman began This Can't Be Happening at Macdonald Hall. He was also the class monitor for the Scholastic TAB Book Club, so he sent his novel to the address on the TAB flyer, and a few days after his 14th birthday, he had a book contract with Scholastic.
By the time he graduated from high school, he had published five other novels and several articles for Canadian newspapers. He received a BFA degree from New York University with a major in Dramatic Writing and a minor in Film and TV. He has written over 75 books for children and young adults including the Swindle series, The Juvie Three, and two books of poetry written by the fictional character Jeremy Bloom.

Booklist Review
There's a great deal going on plotwise in this sequel to Swindle (2008), and that's just how the legions of Korman fans like it. Once again, The Man with the Plan Griffin, animal expert Savannah and her Great Dane Luthor, and Everykid Ben join forces to solve a mystery. This time, they're out to rescue Savannah's pet monkey Cleo from an unethical zoo owner. When Cleo disappears from Savannah's backyard and is later spotted on a school field trip to a decrepit floating zoo, madcap plans and adventures ensue: getting to and from the zoo in the middle of the night; distracting Klaus, the overzealous security guard; springing Cleo from her cage; and ultimately stashing more than 40 freed zoo animals in classmates' houses without any parents noticing. Although often implausible, the action is fast and entertaining, with just the right amount of realistic drama to ring true. Korman knows his audience well, and readers will clamor for a third installment featuring these intrepid young crime solvers.--Foote, Diane Copyright 2009 Booklist
School Library Journal Review
Gr 4-7-Gordon Korman reprises the characters he wrote with such success in Swindle (2008) in this action-packed, humorous sequel (2009, both Scholastic). Savannah, 11, is devastated when her beloved monkey, Cleo, is kidnapped and placed in a stinking, floating zoo run by two shysters. Her friend Griffin assembles a team (reminiscent of Mission Impossible) to get the creature out of her prison. Each member of the group brings their special talent: Ben can fit into small spaces, Pitch can climb anything, Logan excels at acting, and Melissa is the resident computer whiz. After rescuing Cleo, the team decides to liberate all the animals and then must break into the Long Island Zoo to ensure proper homes for them. Jonathan Todd Ross creates s distinct voice for each character and the pace zips along to a satisfying conclusion. Fans of the first book will clamor for this sequel, but it also easily stands alone.-Tricia Melgaard, Centennial Middle School, Broken Arrow, OK (c) Copyright 2010. Kirkus Review
Griffin Bing, "The Man With The Plan," and his full complement of co-conspirators from Swindle (2008) are back. Animal whisperer Savannah's Capuchin monkey Cleopatra turns up missing, and a suspicious banana leads Savannah to the conclusion that Cleo's been monkey-napped. They find her in a run-down floating zoo, but adults and authorities are no help in getting the monkey back. Griffin already has worries enough, since his best bud, the narcoleptic Ben, is about to be shipped off to a special school for those with sleep disorders. Even so, everyone agrees to a plan to spring Cleobut they end up having to spring the whole zoo. The plan to hide 40 animals from parents and police and Mr. Nastase, the awful zookeeper, only works for so long, prompting Griffin to move on to plan three. Possibly more improbable and even sillier than the first, Korman's second tale of 11-year-old Mr. Fix-it Griffin and his friends is a page-turning adventure that reads like a Disney movie waiting to be made. The author's fans will be more than pleased, and those unfamiliar with the first will likely look it up. (Fiction. 9-12) Copyright Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.
