Booklist Review

Cocky Rebel pilot Poe Dameron has been sent on a mission by General Leia Organa: find Lor San Tekka and, from him, learn the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. But Agent Terex of the First Order is hot on the heels of Poe and his team, eager to beat them to Lor San Tekka and his secret knowledge. Soule's prequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens is not as strong as his Lando-focused graphic novel, and the attempt at nonstop action falls flat. There's a nice attempt to broaden Dameron's world by giving him an X-Wing team, but there isn't enough character development to bring them to life. However, Terex is a fun addition to the realm of bad guys and will hopefully return in later comics. The art of longtime comic artist Noto has a clear, cinematic quality that fits perfectly into the Star Wars universe. Even with its faults, this will still find an audience with fans eager to know more about Dameron and his early adventures.--Wildsmith, Snow Copyright 2010 Booklist
