Library Journal Review

This latest entry from the Taste of Home Eds. crew focuses solely on fruits and vegetables. Rather than use the standard organizational system based on parts of a meal, this lavishly illustrated book dedicates chapters to one kind of produce, ranging from apples to tomatoes. Each chapter contains approximately 15-20 recipes for desserts, salads, entrees, and side dishes. The blurbs add a homey touch, making the book seem more like a community effort than the output of a giant publishing combine. While a nice idea-capitalizing on foods that are often relegated to a single chapter in other cookbooks-the recipes themselves are fairly typical. Many are basic classics that can be easily found elsewhere. The somewhat narrow focus and limited number of recipes make this an optional purchase for larger cookery collections.-Susan Hurst, Miami Univ. Lib., Oxford, OH (c) Copyright 2010.
