Library Journal Review
This handsome book discusses various paranormal and unexplained incidences such as crop circles, poltergeists, man-beasts, and spirit photography. The book is organized into headings: mystery animals, ghosts and spirits, strange powers, and weird happenings. Its strength is the large number of photographs illustrating the various topicsÄthe authors are the curators of the Fortean Picture Library, an archive of photographs and illustrations of the unexplained. The somewhat brief entries for each topic are well written and carefully outline the history of the unexplained incidents. The text does not debunk or expose each phenomenon but rather details the beliefs and events surrounding it. The majority of the book focuses on Great Britain, though phenomena from other parts of the world are also covered. This book will be appreciated by readers of popular culture and psychic phenomena. Recommended for large public libraries.ÄGail Wood, SUNY at Cortland (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
