Summary
Summary
Three intrepid princesses find themselves targets in a deadly plot against the crown--until their uncle devises a brilliant plan to keep them safe...
Of all her sisters, Princess Stefanie is by far the least amenable to law and order, which is why she's appalled to find herself masquerading as an unbearably drab clerk for the most honorable barrister in England. But her dull disguise turns out to have its privileges: namely, the opportunity to consort unchaperoned with her employer's exceedingly handsome nephew, James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield.
Hatherfield quickly realizes that his uncle's spirited new clerk is, in fact, a lovely young woman of daring habits. The outwardly impeccable marquis isn't about to reveal her deception. After all, he's hiding a dangerous secret of his own. But when one too many escapades with the madcap princess bring Hatherfield's troubled past to light, it is only Stefanie's sharp wits that stand between the marquis and utter disaster, and only Hatherfield's daring that can save the princess from the shadowy agents bent on finding her.
Author Notes
Juliana Gray began writing as a child to relieve the tedium of being sentenced to her room, and later turned to romance to relieve the tedium of unsatisfactory suitors. Sadly, despite five years' residence in the most exclusive areas of London, she never met a single duke, though she once shared a taxi with a future baron.
Juliana's debut romance trilogy, A Lady Never Lies , A Gentleman Never Tells , and A Duke Never Yields , won widespread acclaim, including the RT Book Review 's Seal of Excellence for August 2012. As Beatriz Williams, she is also the author of Overseas and A Hundred Summers from G. P. Putnam's Sons. She enjoys dark chocolate, champagne, and dinner parties, and adores hearing from readers.

Publisher's Weekly Review
Gray mixes things up in her sequel to How to Tame Your Duke: James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield, and Princess Stephanie Victoria Augusta are already a couple in the prologue, in which he is being arraigned for his stepmother's murder. The narrative bounces back and forth between two timelines-the couple meeting and falling in love, and the progress of the trial-until both come together near the end. Terrific leads are unfortunately hindered by a heap of cliches. The princess disguises herself as a young man to evade assassins, even taking the obligatory awkward trip to a brothel. Another woman is in love with Hatherfield, who is pushed to marry her to satisfy his estranged father's debts. On the plus side, Hatherfield is aware that "Mr. Thomas" is a woman from the start, and the devastating secret he hides is authentically rendered. (Jan.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. Booklist Review
Forced to flee their home of Holstein-Schweinwald-Huhnhof when anarchist assassins kill her father and brother-in-law, Princess Stefanie Victoria Augusta and her sisters seek refuge in England, where their uncle, the Duke of Olympia, convinces them they must disguise themselves as men until the assassins can be caught. Assuming the persona of Stephen Thomas, a quiet young law clerk in the employ of Sir John Worthington, Q.C., Stefanie dreads spending the next few months doing nothing but dully toiling away in a musty old law office that is until she meets her employer's nephew James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield. The old Stefanie would immediately begin flirting with the deliciously sexy James, but Stefanie quickly discovers how difficult it is to flirt when you are wearing a man's suit yourself! The second winning addition in Gray's Princess in Hiding series (How to Tame Your Duke, 2013) delivers plenty of high-stakes drama (including a murder trial right out of Rumpole of the Bailey) and an abundance of scorchingly hot sexual chemistry between the novel's protagonists, not to mention writing that snaps, crackles, and pops with the author's sharp sense of wit.--Charles, John Copyright 2014 Booklist
Library Journal Review
Princess Stefanie, the youngest of the three daughters of the assassinated ruler of the German principality of Holstein-Schweinwald-Huhnhof, is masquerading as Stephen Thomas, the mustachioed law clerk to the esteemed London barrister Sir John Worthington. The sisters are each living disguised as a male while their uncle the Duke of Olympia tracks down the conspirators who killed their father. James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield, has been tasked with looking after Mr. Thomas, but pretending that his well-groomed charge is not in truth an intriguing woman is difficult at best. James knows that maintaining Stefanie's facade is all important to her safety and perhaps even to his own means of thwarting his father's plans. But can it save James when he is charged with the brutal murder of his stepmother? Verdict In this second series title from Gray (after How To Tame Your Duke), readers are aware that the marquis is fighting for his life even before the romance begins, which only serves to heighten the suspense as the couple's passion and the legal machinations head for a tumultuous collision. This entrancing and searing love story is highly recommended.-Bette-Lee Fox, Library Journal (c) Copyright 2013. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
