Horn Book Review
At FunLand, Grandpa wins a teddy bear at the Basketball Shoot but loses the roller coaster tickets. It's up to boy detective Jeffrey Bones to track them down. Divided into five chapters, Adler's easy reader mystery has just the right dose of humor (Jeffrey decides not to ride the big roller coaster because it's "too scary for Teddy"), and Newman's illustrations reinforce the text nicely. Booklist Review
At the amusement park, Jeffrey Bones' grandfather buys 10 regular tickets and two for the big roller coaster. After playing some games and riding the merry-go-round, they head for the roller coaster, but Grandpa discovers those tickets are gone. Despite his fear of the scary ride, Jeffrey turns detective and solves the mystery. Divided into five short chapters of reasonably simple text, the story is easy to follow. Colorful illustrations appear on every page. Hard-boiled junior detectives may be in fashion, but the Bones beginning-reader mystery series' soft-boiled (possibly coddled) protagonist has his own honest, childlike appeal.--Phelan, Carolyn Copyright 2009 Booklist
