School Library Journal Review
Gr 1-3-These crafts are attractively designed and the directions easy to follow. Each spread describes a project such as a pet photo frame, fish bookmark, turtle crayon holder, animal treasure box, etc. Each activity begins with an introductory paragraph that gives some interesting facts about the featured creature. Materials lists are well compiled, and mostly call for common household items. Safety notes appear where appropriate. There are templates for some of the projects, most at 100 percent required size, and only one requiring a 10 percent enlargement. Although the projects are not extraordinary, they are easy for young children and accessible because of their simple materials. With its appealing theme, bright pages, and good photo illustrations, this is a serviceable addition to the crafts collection.-Lynda Ritterman, Atco Elementary School, NJ (c) Copyright 2010. Horn Book Review
This series makes creative use of common household materials such as water bottles, straws, and cereal boxes. Some of the crafts are usable, attractive, and easily accomplished (especially in Animal and Music), while others are flimsy and fairly uninspired. All four books include patterns at the end to accompany some of the trickier projects. Reading list, websites. Ind.
