A respected voice in movement for peace, justice, and the environment, she interweaves her scholarship with five decades of activism. Physician and coach Dr. Chris Johnstone is a specialist in the psychology of resilience, happiness, and positive change.

This book asserts that three stories of our time are going on right now: Business as Usual, which involves a denial of concerns about overpopulation, depletion of natural resources, life-threatening pollution, and global warming; the Great Unraveling, which is substantiated by environmental disaster, global economic disaster, overpopulation, and scarcity of resources; and the Great Turning, which requires a resilient and active approach for ushering in new sustainable ways of existence. The book offers factual insights as well as exercises for taking action. It also refers to symbolic Knights of the Round Table story of Parsifal, who out of politeness and reluctance to question authority does not ask what is wrong with the ill Fisher King or his kingdom, which is devoid of plant life. The message the authors impart is to ask questions and forge ahead, even though exploring problems can be daunting. Overcoming obstacles, facing opposition and fear, is where true adventure lies.
