School Library Journal Review
K-Gr 4-In this latest installment in the series, cats Bo and Panache find themselves in the sights of pirates. They are aboard the tony Legend with Billy Bates, Captain Ian Fraser, Lord and Lady Goodlad, and the rest of the crew on what is supposed to be a pleasure cruise through the Mediterranean. The baddies that showed up in earlier books are back, and this time they want to take over the yacht and take down part of Lord Goodlad's business. Bo and Panache play a large part in foiling the intruders in an action-packed scene. After the day is saved, the trip is canceled and Billy and the crew are instructed to take the vessel back to London. When they arrive, the felines are treated like celebrities and invited to have an audience with the Queen. The culmination of the story has Bo reunited with family members once more. This is a series that must be read in order and in its entirety for the stories to be fully understood. There are flashbacks in the text, but they are brief and fast paced. The vocabulary is quite sophisticated ("phosphorescence," "flotilla," etc.), and French phrases are peppered throughout, making the book best for reading aloud.-Stacy Dillon, LREI, New York City (c) Copyright 2013. Kirkus Review
The fourth volume in a gentle series chronicling the adventures of a tiny gray Persian cat called Bonnie Boadicea, or Little Bo for short. Bo is sailing with her human friend Billy and her feline friend Panache on a yacht called Legend when it is attacked by pirates. Billy, Bo and Panache are instrumental in thwarting the attack and saving Legend's owners, Lord and Lady Goodlad. The news of their heroics spreads quickly, and they soon find themselves on a course for England to have tea with the queen. The adventures in this episodic tale continue at the palace, where Bo and Panache are chased off by a bunch of corgis and have to find their way back to Billy by way of the queen's stables. The sophisticated vocabulary and prose style combined with the quaint, nostalgic feel of this offering will likely make it more appealing to adults than children. However, those young readers who enjoy gentle, lyrical, meandering stories will happily lose themselves in the charmed world presented here. Cole's illustrations are a welcome addition, lending whimsy and vibrancy to settings and characters--human and feline--alike. While this sweet adventure story with feline protagonists won't be everyone's cup of tea, it will resonate with just the right reader. Booklist Review
After three books spent cruising around Europe, Bo, the gray Persian cat, returns to her native England. But first, she and her master, Billy, must foil a kidnapping attempt on board the private yacht where they're crew and save the ship's owner, Lord Goodlad, who is indispensable in Parliament. While as consistently quaint as the previous entries, this feline swan song has less action than the others. Series devotees, however, will appreciate the cozy familiarity and the colorful illustrations (perhaps noticing the incorrect flag painted over Buckingham Palace) and get a warm fuzzy feeling from the happy ending.--Medlar, Andrew Copyright 2010 Booklist
