Publisher's Weekly Review
At the start of bestseller Feehan's suspenseful third GhostWalker novel (after Mind Game), Raoul "Gator" Fontenot, a member of the Special Forces paranormal squad known as the GhostWalkers, is looking for Iris "Flame" Johnson, who, like Gator, was a subject of genetic engineering by the late Dr. Peter Whitney. Though Whitney's treatment left Flame with superior physical strength and hearing, he also used her as a guinea pig, deliberately giving her cancer in order to further his research for a cure. After Gator finds Flame in the steamy bayou country outside New Orleans, the pair team up to search for another young woman who has mysteriously disappeared, as clever assailants dog their every step. Though Flame and Gator are endowed with superhuman skills, this captivating story's paranormal aspects never overshadow the sexual tension between them. Agent, Steve Axelrod at Rowland & Axelrod. Booklist Review
Feehan's talents seem to grow with every book. The third installment in her Game series sends Cajun ghost walker Raoul Gator Fontenot back to his Louisiana bayou home to search for Flame, a survivor of Dr. Whitney's diabolical genetic modification experiments. Flame, who has psionic sonic talents, is in the New Orleans area searching for a missing singer who happens to be a friend of Gator's family. Finding the knife-flinging, rocket-riding redhead quickly is important because lab records show that Flame was intentionally infected with cancer. Gator's work is cut out for him as he first tries to find the elusive beauty and then convince her that he is one of the good guys as they team up to find the missing singer. Gator's wonderful, bright, and intuitive grandmother and warm familial relationships add depth to the story. And Feehan's ability to craft believable characters thrown together in wild, action-packed circumstances makes for a satisfyingly sexy romance. --Donna Seaman Copyright 2005 Booklist
Library Journal Review
The third in Feehan's âGhostWalkerâ series, this riveting story sends Special Forces agent Raoul âGatorâ Fontenot to New Orleans in search of the elusive Iris âFlameâ Johnson, another childhood victim of the diabolical experiments by the late Dr. Peter Whitney and the latest target of Lily Whitney-Miller's search for the people damaged by her father. Powerful beyond measure, Flame is a lethal weapon ready to explode--and she is out for revenge. But death is stalking the local blues clubs, and blues-loving Flame is being hunted, as well, and by someone far less friendly than the tantalizingly dangerous Gator. Sexy, suspenseful, and filled with high-stakes action, this story won't disappoint series fans. A best-selling writer of intense paranormals, Feehan (Magic in the Wind) is noted for her âDarkâ series of seductive Carpathian vampire romances. (c) Copyright 2010.
