Turn up the music and get in the pool! Aquatic fitness instructor and lecturer Adami presents an up-to-date overview of how to achieve a water-resistant, total body fitness workout. Abundant and striking step-by-step color photographs (a big plus) illustrate various deep- and shallow-water workouts that are appropriate for all levels of physical ability. The principles and benefits of aquatic exercise are explained, and the author clearly demonstrates how to perform and combine different series of movements for effective, safe, and interesting training sessions. She also shows how many of these exercises can be enhanced by using proper types of equipment. In addition to these combinations and routines, Adami presents movements that tone and strengthen specific muscles, along with sport-specific exercises for cross-trainers. A water flexibility and relaxation program is included, along with a fun chapter on ways to exercise in the sand and waves when visiting the beach. This enjoyable book is recommended for public and academic libraries seeking to expand their wellness and fitness collections.-Deborah Anne Broocker, Georgia Perimeter Coll., Dunwoody (c) Copyright 2010.
