Gr 1-5-Making a better choice about food has never been easier. Professor Fizzy, along with his kid helpers, explore the food pyramid and discuss the differences between healthy food and junk food as well as the effects that both types of foods have on the body in this animated production. While Professor Fizzy teaches the children about simple and complex carbohydrates and smart snacks, Fast Food Freddie constantly tries to trick them into eating his greasy, sugary junk food. Luckily, Professor Fizzy is always there to save the day with a healthy snack alternative and a simple explanation about why kids should make a better food choice. The information is presented through short webisodes, quick food interviews, and hilarious music videos. Material can also be viewed by subject, such as "Good Fat & Bad Fat," "Carbs & Sugar," and "Balanced Meals and Diets." Each webisode delivers simple and easy-to-remember information in an entertaining and often hilarious way. Among the topics covered are whole grains, vegetables and fruits, lean proteins, hydration, exercise, and family meal time. Although Professor Fizzy refers to the Food Pyramid and not the new MyPlate model of healthy eating, kids still get a clear message about food portions. Teachers can have the class compare the Food Pyramid and MyPlate guidelines. Recipes and activities are included on the DVD-ROM. Each PDF file is colorfully illustrated with step-by-step instructions and cute images.
