School Library Journal Review
Gr 2-5-A wonderful introduction to responsible pet ownership. Erin Kelly, 11, relates in a warm and informative narrative how she selected her two ferrets and how she and her family care for them. She even includes tips about some of the things that she had to learn the hard way: "At my house, we check chairs for ferrets before we sit down." The girl describes everything from grooming, feeding, and bathing to litter-box training. Additional factual information about the animals appears in well-placed sidebars. King's clear, color photographs clarify Erin's account. The excellent blend of story and pictures enables youngsters to enjoy the creatures right along with the Kelly family. Both report writers and children considering ferret ownership will appreciate this lively offering.-Cynde Marcengill, Horry County Memorial Library, Surfside Beach, SC (c) Copyright 2010.
