School Library Journal Review
Gr 5 Up-Superman and Lois stumble into Infinite City, a nexus of realities and dimensions. The city suffers from a weakening of gateways that separate the other worlds, and such a fragile situation calls for drastic measures. Lois is abducted and it is up to Superman to rescue her. There is also a dastardly plot in motion to replace Superman's father, whose consciousness has been downloaded into a machine, as mayor of Infinite City. The impossible architecture of a strange world is brought to life in Meglia's whimsical designs. His animation influences are very evident and lend themselves to this original story. The drawings are detailed and imaginative; the backgrounds are rich and lush. The colors are muted except for Superman, a visual device that allows the larger-than-life hero to jump off the pages. The plot is predictable, yet fun. Kennedy's script creates voices for each character that reveal a new personality for iconic figures. The dialogue is well paced and the narrative is easy to follow. New Superman readers will see a classic story of good versus evil, whereas veteran fans will have a great new adventure.-Joel Bangilan, Houston Public Library, TX (c) Copyright 2010.
