School Library Journal Review
Gr 4-7-These books have sections on the history, people, day-to-day life, and religious beliefs-including brief descriptions of various creation myths-of their subjects. Unlike many other titles on the topic, they also include a preponderance of information on the devastating impact of the European settlers, and the resulting dislocation and decline of the population of tribes in the region. With colorful graphics and numerous historical and modern photographs of people, places, and objects, these attractive books will appeal to young readers. However, students who read more than one title in the series may find the repetition of certain sections of text (several pages appear verbatim in each book) somewhat confusing.-Sue Morgan, Tom Kitayama Elementary School, Union City, CA (c) Copyright 2010.
