Gr 9 Up-This series takes a close look at the science and sustainability of a number of different areas, including water use, agriculture, the construction industry, and energy production and consumption. Each title begins with an introduction that draws connections between sustainability and the specific issue, providing historical context and related contemporary science. The writing is dense and scientific, but the explanations are detailed, and the material builds on successive chapters. Researchers will find plenty of current facts and data to wade through, with references to other studies and articles that are listed in the back matter. The stock photographs are serviceable, and the design is simple; the real draw is the complexity of the information and the currency of these issues. -VERDICT Ample research resources for high schoolers. © Copyright 2017.
