Author Ron Fontes grew up in Clarksville, Tennessee and started drawing comics at the age of 16. He studied art and theatre in college and worked as an advertising art director in Nashville, Tennessee before moving to New York City. He also worked for Whitman and as an art director for Marvel Comics.
Currently he and his wife, Justine Korman, write children's books. They have written over 400 books for major publishers. Many have featured licensed characters such as the Peanuts Gang and the X-Men and are often based on popular movies like The Lion King, Batman Returns, and The Phantom Menace. Their biggest seller is the adaptation of The Lion King, which sold almost four million copies worldwide. In 1994, Fontes published a science fiction series called Captain Fortune. He and his wife also work on Tales of the Terminal Diner, which is a unique anthology featuring work by both professionals and amateurs.
