This film provides the basic facts surrounding the assassination of Abraham Lincoln as well as details about John Wilkes Booth's 12 days as a fugitive and the men and women who conspired with him. In typical History Channel fashion, the documentary uses reenactments, interviews with leading historians and biographers, maps, vintage photos, and newspaper clippings to bring the story to life. Booth was dismayed to discover that he was vilified not only in the Northern press but in the South, too, as many Confederates realized they had lost one of their greatest advocates for leniency in the coming reconstruction. With excellent production quality and adept commentary, this is a clear, detailed examination of the last desperate days of one of America's-and history's-most notorious assassins.
