Taken from the novels of Caroline Graham, Midsomer Murders is a darkly humorous, modern-day rendition of the classic English village mystery. The stories take place in Midsomer County, England, where Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and Sgt. Gavin Troy peel back the charming fa?ades of quaint villages to reveal murder most foul. This contemporary British TV series was extremely popular in England and originally shown here on A&E. The fifth set includes The Killing at Badger's Drift, Written in Blood, Death of a Hollow Man, Faithful unto Death, and Death in Disguise and is guaranteed to send you looking for the first four (see Sets 2 & 3, Video Reviews, LJ 11/15/03). The programs are hugely entertaining, with delightful characters, particularly the detectives, and spectacular settings. The DVD includes special features, e.g., a Midsomer map, production notes, cast filmographies, and a Caroline Graham biography.
