Stone Rabbit and friends create a fleet of robotic teddy bear workers to help them construct their parade float. A frantic spin on the familiar "Sorcerer's Apprentice" story line ensues when the lead bots get out of control. Colorful cartoon illustrations and bold font are ideal for new graphic-novel readers. Stone Rabbit and friends face their most frightening nemesis yet right in their own hometown: a ginormous shark robot! In his eighth graphic adventure, Stone Rabbit and his friends Henri Tortoise and Andy Wolf help Judy the (genius) bird make a float for the parade. There won't be time for them to complete it, so she sets her army of robot teddy bears to work on it overnight under the supervision of Cheese and Broccoli, two robotic rabbits. Henri wants the float to be terrifyingly awesome instead of cute (the plan includes a dolphin surrounded by happy sea creatures), so he electromagnetizes Cheese and Broccoli to change their programming. The float turns out according to plansuntil halfway through the parade, when Cheese rips off his fur and turns the float into a tornado-barfing, laser-eyed shark robot with a belly full of flame-throwerbearing robot bears. They proceed to do what any self-respecting tornado-barfing, laser-eyed shark robot with a belly full of flame-throwerbearing robot bears would do: attack the paradegoers. Can Stone Rabbit and friends save the town and maybe the world, or are we all doooomed?! Craddock continues the crack-brained, cartoon craziness with another cinematically illustrated graphic tale. The bright, action-packed panels and goofy story are just right for reluctant readers, as is the glossary at the close.
