Summary
Summary
Being permanently based in a local New York City high school as an undercover operative has its moments, good and bad, for 16-year-old safecracker Maggie Silver. Pros: More quality time with her former mark-turned-boyfriend Jesse Oliver and insanely cool best friend, Roux. Getting to spend quality time with her semi-retired and international spy honorary uncle, Angelo. Cons: High school and the accompanying cliques, bad lunches, and frustratingly simple locker combinations. But when Maggie's parents are falsely accused of stealing priceless gold coins, Maggie uses her safecracking skills to try and clear their names. Too bad it only serves to put her and everyone she loves in danger. Maggie and her "new team" flee to Paris where they must come up with a plan to defeat their former allies.

School Library Journal Review
Gr 9 Up-Maggie Silver, a plucky 17-year-old international spy and expert safecracker, has ceased traveling the world with her secret-agent parents. She has put down roots in Manhattan, now as a permanent undercover operative in her New York City high school. Fans of the first book will be glad to see that Maggie is dating Jesse, her prior mark, and her best friend, Roux, returns as well. When her parents are framed for a crime they didn't commit, Maggie must draw on her special skill set to clear their names. There is significant action and espionage, but still a focus on relationships, especially once Maggie realizes the value of working together. The author's narration is excellent and quickly paced. Fans of Ally Carter's "Gallagher Girls" series and Sara Shepard's "Pretty Little Liars" will be particularly drawn to this tale. A recommended purchase for libraries with young adults craving more stories of mystery, secrets, and adventure.-Nicole Martin, Grafton-Midview Public Library, OH (c) Copyright 2014. Horn Book Review
Teenage safecracker Maggie is back, and after false accusations against her parents, the Collective is looking to expel her undercover-operatives family from the group. The line between friend and foe blurs as Maggie, along with boyfriend Jesse and best friend Roux, flees to Paris to clear her parents' names. A quick pace, lots of action, and a little romance make for entertaining reading. (c) Copyright 2014. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
Kirkus Review
As a key member of a spy family, 17-year-old Maggie Silver discovers that allowing BFF Roux and boyfriend Jesse to get swept up in her exciting lifestyle has unforeseen consequences, including getting her friends into some seriously dangerous situations. Raised from the age of 4 as a master safecracker, spunky Maggie is a member of the Collective, an undercover Robin Hoodstyle organization that works to right wrongs and prosecute bad guys. Things go badly awry when Maggie attempts to thwart a Collective member who is maneuvering to have her parents discredited and removed from the organization. High shenanigans and chases through the streets of New York erupt, with stolen Faberg eggs, gold coins, bomb blasts and sniper attacks adding to the confusion. Maggie and friends are summarily removed by their protectors to a Paris safe house, where they meet other Collective members who have been double-crossed by the corrupt organization. Various muddled plots unravel, culminating in a denouement in the Louvre, as spies and agents try to entrap the evil Collective member. While the spy story is good fun and Maggie's quandaries will resonate with readers, the action at times slows to a crawl with her lengthy internal monologues, and characters tend to be flat. A fluffy romp with authentic teen dialogue, cardboard characters and a plot gone rogue. (Thriller. 14 up)]] Copyright Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.
