Library Journal Review
In 1868 Kansas, petulant Susanne McCord offers gruff Cass Claxton $600 to escort her to her aunt's home in St. Louis. Cass, who cannot stand the pretentious girl, flatly refuses. So Susanne falsely accuses Cass of deflowering her, forcing him into an unwanted marriage so that he will have to help her. Cass reluctantly takes his bride to St. Louis, where he unceremoniously dumps her. Six years later, their paths cross again, and once more Susanne needs Cass's help. Only this time, Cass will discover a very different Susanne, who may give him reason to stick around. Brimming with her trademark humorous flair, Copeland's third "Men of the Saddle" title (after The Peacemaker and The Drifter) will please her numerous fans while also having crossover appeal for lovers of Western romances.
