Summary:
Forms containing data collected during a statewide survey of women employed outside the home. It was conducted by the Public Safety Commission's Committee on Women in Industry, in cooperation with the Bureau of Women and Children of the Department of Labor and Industries, in order to obtain information about women wage earners and their working conditions, especially those who had entered the work force due to World War I and/or who needed to support dependent family members.

The forms in Set 1 give information on place of employment, including name, location, type, total number of employees, and number of men, women, and children employed; number of hours worked per day and per week by women and children; sanitation facilities and conditions; the kind of work, hours, and wages of women in positions held by men prior to the war, and those of the men they replaced; and demographic information on each female employee.

The forms in Set 2 were created during follow-up interviews of selected women employees in some communities, and provide more detailed information on the woman, her family, and her employment.

There are no forms for the following counties: Clearwater, Jackson, Mahnomen, Meeker, Sibley, and Traverse.

A published compilation and analysis of the data collected during the survey, recommendations, and conclusions, is also included on every microfilm reel.
