Arial returns to her cottage to discover it has been ransacked, her grandmother unconscious and her father is missing. A note from her father instructs her to change her identity and take to the road for her own protection. She changes her name to Nissa and travels throughout the country of Sommerhjem collecting mysterious companions to aid her on her quest.
